Companies need to keep Employee morale high

companies need to keep employee morale high

I read an article in the ET about how Organisations are seeking experts for emotional counselling of “Work from home” employees since the lock down has started taking a toll on their emotional well-being. Covid-19: Companies rope in psychiatrists, experts for emotional counselling of work from home employees

As the virus spreads and death toll rises, employees (like everyone else) are becoming increasingly paranoid. Morale is rapidly declining and uncertainty is at all time high

I have been speaking to several HR experts and the challenges being faced are unprecedented. While this may vary with the size of the Organisation, industry and revenues, it still is an extremely challenging time.

The one thing everyone agrees about is the need to show additional care & compassion

It can be an extremely difficult time for employees who could be dealing with stress and other anxiety related issues.Organisations need to focus on communicating effectively with their employees, giving them the confidence that they will be taken care of and provide them with adequate support to help them adapt.
Different employees could be coping very differently and its important for Managers to take into account each employee’s individual circumstances and be accommodative to their concerns. Teams need to come together towards a collective goal thus giving employees who who are struggling to adapt, some leeway to cope.

Maintaining high levels of transparency is essential

There are all kind of theories floating around and the fear of recession is real. At this point no one really knows the impact. People are losing their jobs, fearing for their careers, their health & their future . It would be wrong to underplay this. However, until we have some visibility, there no reason for unnecessary panic and this can be well avoided if Organisations engage more with their employees.

Engage, Engage & Engage… …and do the best you can !!
